An Open World Criminal Underworld Simulator

THEME: Open World Mafia Game/ Empire Building/ Simulation. The motive I was thinking is to get rich build and powerful crime organization. I took ideas from 2k's Mafia series. The Godfather 2 and as well as GTA V. Read a lot of articles on what gamers would like to see in a open world game. I believe a mafia theme game is a good way to reset what gamers like myself has been use to seeing and perfect it before moving on. My idea was to make the gamer feel like they're living in an alternate reality. Put in hundreds of hours into the game. I have written an idea that is more for an adult audience, and although a gamer an educated person as well to chanllage the brain to where it is enoyable in rare level. An open world that constantly keeps you excited and changing around the player due to actions and decisions they and other families do and not getting old. relieve the player of a ordinary ending to a game. While implementing as much realism as possible. I hope that I can get help with this title. I was looking into the Illusion Engine what was made to create Mafia 2.

SETTING: I'm feeling Los Angeles, New York, Nevada and Chicago it doesn't have to be the real name of the city just put a life like of the four in a box. I feel it would be best to go with 40-60's 0r maybe even a 70's to 90's because of features that was not available in the later era. But nothing too much of a Modern timeline this is a hard decision but argument. The motive I was thinking is to get rich build a powerful crime organization fight other crime families as well as the authority.

GAME STORYLINE: The game focuses strongly around oragnized crime. you are thrown on the street with absoletly nothing. There is nothing available other than crime and consequences. The games opening is a educational breif preview of what organized crime is. The money crime families made and last but not least the brutality and consequence of being in the mob. The game is about the life as we know it in the mafia or being in the mob. You are a criminal who's only way out of the life of crime is to create a ligitimate organization of it.

GAMEPLAY: I wish to see complete realism. A created character let players pick between voice if possible program a variety of first in last names so the players character is not a mute or subtitled name. The player is out for Money, Power, Respect and Territory. I'm thinking action mixed with simulation. at the beginning of the game cash can be made by Smuggling, Robbery, Hi jacking, Bootlegging and even Contract Killing. While making your way up the criminal ladder you will face different crime families and you will have to avoid hits and the eye of the authorities. This is not just open world, driving a car and doing missions. The plan is like every known crime organization is to become a legitimate organization but your past and back dues always follow. Players are able to join a crime family which is a safe way. but you'll have to kick in most of your earnings and do as they say. At the end of the day you will be helping that family climb the ranks In Net Worth, Respect, and Territory and unless your connects are good enough you may not be able to leave the family. Players can also take there lives in there own hands and create your own organization. Building an empire will consist of bootlegging, drug running, murder, money laundering, construction and swavy business and management skills. The simulation side to this game consist of patients. My idea is up to 10 different properties in all four cities. Contacts will be your greatest way to get to the top "Who You Know". Guns are not easy to come by, Properties can be built or purchased but have to be managed in what I believe is a never before seen way in a open world game. Crime can follow you from different cities for your wrong doings and if not careful you can become a most wanted. I created an idea of strengths and weakness amongst the streets. Some families are not as well connected as others, resources are not always available in some area as they are others. What you do can cause crime and corruption ether hurting or benefiting your organization. also aggravating other crime families if ether in they're territory or just don't like the way you do business.

Net worth: Net worth is what your family is worth all your investments and buildings is made up of this. Only washed cashed will become net worth. Dirty cash will not be recognized at net worth until it is washed clean.

Territory: Territory will go by how much of the percentage of the city you control. How much of the neighborhood respects you. Territory can be ruined by your bad doings putting drugs on the street has an impact on territory. Crime up rises in drug infested area's killings and that sort of nature will occur more commonly. But you are not the only one on the rise and with the ability to damage territory so can the other families. Wear and tear of buildings will start to show trash will seem more common and if possible even prostitution. Almost giving the player the ability to turn the suburbs into a hood.

Player Housing: Throughout the game housing becomes very important to the player. Housing is where the player can stash dirty cash, cars , guns, clothing and even a place to feed. There will be five different types of housing. Small Apartments are the cheapest they start at twenty thousand to thirty thousand and with an up keep of fifteen hundred to two thousand dollars. they can stash up to six different weapons. A wardrobe size of up to twelve outfits, they have a safe limit of three hundred thousand and a two car parking space. Large apartments start at three hundred thousand to four hundred thousand this is a penthouse. The upkeep on these are twenty five hundred to three thousand dollars. They have a ten weapon storage and twenty five wardrobe space. They are also equipped with a three car parking space and a safe limit of seven hundred thousand dollars. small houses run at five to six hundred thousand dollars. They have a parking space of four cars a wardrobe space of thirty items and a weapon space of fifteen. They are equipped with a one point five million dollar storage. Estates range from five to ten million dollars. Each of these can hold up to six cars with an additional two for the ten million dollar estate. they can hold up to forty five different outfits the safe for five million dollars is ten point five million dollars. And for ten million safe storage is twenty million dollars. With the cheaper estate you get three personal guards and for the more expensive estate you get five personal guards. the upkeep on these range from five to seven thousand dollars. Guards will also refill the tanks on your cars.
Warehouse: Warehouses can be purchased or built they will store liquor, wine, booze, drugs, guns, food and money. They can store up to three storage trucks and a two car storage. When you are a boss you have to pay for your backup. Those extra to car spots is where the cars for your bodyguards are stashed. Most smuggling operations will end up here. The simulation side to the game utilizes the warehouse in a big way. When building an empire you can invest and build properties all properties have an upkeep fee. Alongside they have needs liquor, booze, wine and food are what you need keep in stock. You can have them delivered to your fronts on a weekly basis or deliver them yourself. The operation will be alive and working. don't be surprised if you see one of your trucks on the move.

Respect: Respect and prestige is acquired by pretty much everything you do in the game. Smuggling, robbery, building, player home, apparel, money or even all out rampage but not all families are fond of killing innocent bystanders.

Authorities: Cops, fbi, feds they don't have to be called this but the way it works is as realistic as possible unlike games like GTA you can be tracked down if you leave a trail of bodies. killing with a certain kind of gun will leave bullet casings most guns in the game. When ever a murder occurs police will sweep the scene looking for clues. Gloves or a revolver can play a major part in this game. If caught by the cops you can become a target to your family if you choose to give information. giving information reduces your court fee. If you have a lawyer you can wipe your slate clean for a price but once again it is not cheap. Not all cops are dirty but everyone has a price. When smuggling a lot of booze, guns and drugs, or even continues killings you can become a prime suspect. If caught slipping you can be raided. Being raided can cause you to lose all of your assets if you don't have enough money after you've been charged. The player can be followed, photographed and even interigated by the authorities. This is where offshore accounts will play a major roll in the game. While being raided you can have an all out stand off if you choose to do so. they have the ability to call for backup but so do you. You can also try to escape.

Death: My idea of death is something totally new to gamers upon being fatally shot you will enter a life support screen. The player will then have to keep tapping a button to keep from flat lining. if the player dose flat line recovery time will be much longer. after going through the heart throbbing faze your character will show signs that they were wounded the effects will be lack of stamina, limping, and a decrease in health. This can also make you lose respect and weaken your family. Making them vulnerable to ambush giving the enemy the upper hand at destroying or profiting off multiple of your businesses.

Attire: Attire plays a big part in the game wearing a suit or dress attire gives you presteige and respect and if you schedule a sit-down things have a better chance of going right. Your attire can also be accompanied with jewelry. Golden, silver and diamond rings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces can be purchased from jewelry shops. I believe adding a good size variety of apparel to the game can add room for enterable buildings such as clothing and jewelry stores. I also imagined growing hair keeping groomed just to give the player extra realism and a barber shop. Your attire can get dirty and will need to be changed. A cool down will activate once changed before you can wear that attire again. This is to give the player a more realistic and life like feature. By giving them an option to purchase clothing and actually wear everything in they're wardrobe.

Food/Alcohol: The need for food is something I feel the player should have in this game. Weight gain and loss is a good feature i truly believe. Eat too little you can suffer from weight loss which can cause you to be vulnerable to attacks. And if you eat too much you can suffer from obesity which causes a huge stamina drain when running. Intoxication is also a must good for blowing off steam at a sit-downs.

Sit-downs: Sit-downs are important in this game. your family gains experienced when relaxing with the bosses. This is where agreements with different families can be made over fees or brutal force. Intel is collected and shared this way. Your high ranking family members give advises through random talking. you can send for your enforcer to bring you your cut from drugs pushed on the streets. Your capos will give feedback on the latest solider interview for you to review his or hers skills to see if they'll be valuable to the family. This is where you can call hits and much more.

Assassinations: At a sit-down is where your family will become most vulnerable to attacks. If you have been upsetting the rival families you will be a target. Assassinations follow you throughout different cities. Just because you upset a family in a different city doesn't mean your safe. Families can also expand they're empire to different cities as well as yours. If the character has chosen to join a family you can also attempt to assassinate your boss or the don. With the right connects and the right rankings you can easily acquire all of the families accomplishments if you are next in line. But neither killing a don or becoming an underboss is an easy task. Bombing can occur destroying your investments. This will play a major play in the game. Players will have to pay for repairs to get the operation up and running again. this can hurt the businesses revenue.

Cars: Although I am not one hundred percent on rather to go with a 40's-60 setting or a 70's-90's setting I imagine cars to be as realistic as the game itself. Cars should be powered by fuel which is a high request from gamers. They can be fueled at gas stations adding a good feature and also another enterable interior. The cars trunk is very useful this can contain cash and guns that are too big to be held. Unlike most open world games stealing a car raises your heat cops will be on a lookout for that car. driving at night or off main streets would be a good thing to do. Cars can be purchased from dealerships which also adds an enterable building. everything from coupes, sedans, convertibles and even sport and super cars should be a feature given to the player. cars can also be permanently damaged in need of repair and even lost for ever. the player can also ride as a front or back passenger in there luxury car. Just to give the player a feeling of being a boss.

Guns: Although not sure what era the game should be set in I believe realism can be implemented to this area as well. The player cannot run around or hold a big weapon without being seen. Only weapons that can be concealed will not start a stir. The player can only hold up to three clips for the weapon one in the gun and two in the pockets. an additional small pistol can be concealed in an ankle holster. Holsters are also available if you want to wield two pistol. The player acquires an option of duel wielding pistols while equipped with a holster. Shotguns can be concealed under a jacket for a quick ambush but hold it there too long it becomes noticeable. Guns can also be collected or dropped. Collected to add to the stash for your crew or family. If your gun is dropped and the player was not wearing gloves the authorities can acquire the gun a pin murders to your character which comes to play if caught by the cops. Silencers and extra clips can be purchased if you have the right contact. Bullets can be purchased from either a thrift store or a gun dealer. I feel this game should have multiple Pistols, Shotguns and Automatics to give the player a variety to choose from.

Bulletproof Vest: If you are a high target and are followed by crime and assassination attempt a bulletproof vest is a good thing to invest in. Bulletproof vest are worn underneath your cloths.

Money: Unlike other games in the past walking around with a fortune will not play a part in this game. Players can pocket up to thirty thousand dollars. Until the player has received a contact to wash away dirty cash or reach the family rank of enforcer. You will have to keep your illegal tender safe another way a player home is a good thing to invest in. Safes will be available and can be found in each player home. When it comes to apparel, respect and prestige players can purchase a briefcase. Briefcases can hold up to three hundred thousand cash. Players can also purchase duffel bags. Duffel Bags can hold up to five hundred thousand cash, but unlike the briefcase these bags can be duel wielded which would come in play a lot when running smuggling operations. The families dirty cash will be stored in stacks in the warehouse if they have one. It can also be stored in most of the families properties.

Crime Family's: My idea was sixteen different crime families four crime families per city with the addition of your own which can become five and an overall seventeen. Crime families cannot be completely destroyed but destroyed. If you have wiped out the family's high rankings and killed the boss another of a random name will take there spot. This is done to keep the game from getting dole. but that family would be created from one of the random street gangs. completely not as powerful as yours. You can join either one of the families in the city or create your own. they can become your allies and enemy's. Joining a family gives you protection from the start and access to certain things someone who has created his own family cannot. Building your own family will be expensive and take a lot of time, organizing, taking care of yourself and your men. My idea was up to ten important men not including the don or head boss in your criminal organization but the ability to hire guards, Henchman and even contract killers.

1.) Underboss: The underboss keeps diplomacy, can schedule sit downs with other high ranking crime bosses. This would be your day one sidekick when starting your own family. He has his eye on the street for what's been said and what's the enemy's next move.
2.) Lawyer: Through out the game your player will have law enforcers sniffing around for him to mess up. Your lawyer can be sent to different cities before or after dirty business is done. Delivering bribes to the law to keep them of your back for a moment. and get you out of being taken down permanently if caught by the law but it won't be cheap.
3.) Financial Advisor: Your Financial Adviser washes your dirty cash. He has deals and will come to you or contact you on how to wash away your blood money. He will keep you up to date on all your investments, income and output he can even set up off shore accounts for when the day comes you are raided and taken down by the authorities or even a rival crime family.
4.)Building Advisor: Your building advisors keeps in contact with the supply lenders. Throughout the game the player will come across properties for sale and land to be built on. He will also play a part as your real estate agent. When building different contacts will charge a certain amount to do certain parts of your project. This guy will give you there price and can even be sent to find building deals for you he will also aid you on renovation if one of your business gets hit. The types of buildings I thinking of on a purchase or build side are Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Casinos, Gentlemen's Clubs and Night Clubs and most importantly Warehouses. For personal living I was thinking a few rentable apartments for early in the game and Estates once you become financial accomplished and even penthouses. Each property adds to your families Net Worth and Respect. Building Hotels, Motels and Casinos adds a bonus on how many guards you can hire for protection.
5.) Unnamed ( Narcotics Manager) This guy keeps his ear out for drug deals. He will aid you through the black market. He can also find booze for you. My idea to this side of the game is very important. This will bring high heat. Authorities are always out to get you if you become well known. Other families will want a part in this part of the game. It will bring lots of violence and you will need to be very careful when you become a most wanted smuggler.
6.) Unnamed (Personal Gun Runner) This guy plays a part in the simulation part of the game in a major way. My idea was not to make guns as easy to come by. He will look for ways to bring in weapons and even ship them. Your family will not be armed if you do not have the hardware. Meaning guards protecting your investments will be armed with what you have stocked. If your are over stocked you can even sell guns on the street in which can increases crime rate in which will flare up nearby families or even arm a family that is not as well connected as you.
7.) Unnamed ( Warehouse Manager) This Character is what the title says he manages your warehouse he contacts you to notify you on over load of the warehouse or running low on items why? This adds to the simulation part of the game. As you invest in Hotel, Motels, Casinos, Nightclubs, And gentlemen's club you will need to have in contact and in storage Booze, Wine and food the will come out of your expenses but will also turn a profit. Your Financial Advisors will have all expenses and income for your review. Daily income goes up and down depending on the day. Shootouts and sabotage of your investments can hurt them.
8.) Enforcer: The enforcer keeps your soldiers inline. gaining experience for your enforcer by sending him on jobs and letting him tag along will benefit your soldiers as well. They well be more alert and better at defending and by all means staying alive. The enforcer can at as a hitman, Bodyguard, and as well as your driver.
9.) Driver: I idealize a game that lets you fell like a boss or true don. Your driver drives you dedicated locations. He also takes care of your garage. He will make sure that your cars have the proper fuel. Fuel has been a high demand in many Open World Games. It is such an easy script to create but game developers seem to always skip this feature the small things can really make a difference if implemented properly.
10.) Capo: The capo is a foot ahead of the soldier he is basically just a back up if you so happen to lose your enforcer. The capo is more of a drug pusher. unlike a intimidating enforcer. The capo rally's up soldiers for you to hire and to push your narcotics with. Then delivers it to the enforcer who will deliver it to you or your underboss. You can call upon this guy at your sit-downs with your family.

Joining a family: When joining a family you will start at a bottom rank which would be a soilder. You will have a weekly kick in fee to the bosses. The bosses will have you do missions to assest them on there scheming to come up with some of the money. You may have to travel with a high ranking member to accompany him with a Smuggling operation. Act as a bodyguard on many occasions. Most of the sum needed for kicking in will be covered when a fight breaks out. If everything goes as planned you get experience, cash but will not always cover the kick in weekly fee. But money can be made by robbery, Grand Theft Auto, and even drug deals if you have the respect of your capo. The capo has a connection to the family's warehouse and can get drugs for you to turn into cash. But now you will also have another person who wants you to put your life on the line to benefit there pockets. The soldier is the only one in the family who can deal drugs by hand. if dealing to the same person this person becomes a contact and will call you if he is in need of drugs. and will sometimes aid you in getting rid of a large lump sum of your illegal weight. But the more respect you have from your capo depends on how much you can actually get.
Rank#2 Capo: If you have put in work for the family and have become recognized if attending a sit-down you will be called up by an enforcer. He will let you know that you are being promoted. But now the fee's are higher and so are the stakes. As capo you can now influence soldiers as well as recruit them. If the family has ran low on soldiers behind war or what ever is causing them to die your job is to keep them recruited. you will meet them at Bars, Nightclubs, Gentlemen's Clubs and even on the street. Now that you are capo you have to put out a little more attention to make soldiers want to join. Investing in a nicer car is a good way, better clothing and even fancy jewelry can help. Capo's will be given the warehouse managers contact. This is where you will get the drugs to sell for the family. You will assist the families Smuggler and Gun Runner on missions. You do not hand to hand deal drugs you give them to a crew of soldiers in which they will turn into cash. The Capo can only control five soldiers. But until they are recognized as soldiers by the family you will have to keep them paid. If they feel they are being mistreated they will began to look for soldiers of rival families to come to there aid in taking you down. If you suffer from a large amount of respect loss you will cause a drop in rank and have to start back at the bottom. The best possible way is to try to get the soldiers to gain experience as fast as possible and get them into the family.
Rank#3 Enforcer: As an enforcer the stakes from authorities are high and you are more prone to rival gang and family confrontation. You will accompany smuggling deals and also be in charge of the transporting operation. You can now recruit a capo if the capo was eliminated. You can now have three soldiers as your bodyguards. The enforcer can choose to ambush a deal or go through with what the Narcotics Manager and Gun Runner has set up. You have a higher kick in fee from the Capo and the Soldier. You also gain the underbosses contact. He will confront you on what the streets have heard about the family behind your doing and what family you have pissed off. If you are a corrupt enforcer assassination attempts will occur. The best way for an enforcer to gain the respect of the underboss is Suit attire and better player home and vehicle and most of all keep money of the street flowing and operations running smoothly. Having your capo with you gains experience for the capo. This will also give boost to the soldiers generating more money off the streets. The Enforcer will be called to sit-downs with the underboss on a weekly basis. Enforcers also keep all there contacts coming up. Once you gain the ranks of enforcer you are also able to buy or build properties.
Rank#4 Underboss: The underboss gets the contact Boss or don. He gets the enforcers contact and warehouse managers contact. The stakes have become high for the underboss as well. The underboss holds most of the sit-downs and organizes sit-downs for the don. The underboss acts as a bodyguard to the don. Know that you are underboss you can be accompanied by the enforcer and four soldiers. As underboss you no longer kick in a fee to the family. But with the respect of the enforcer you will be given a large amount of dirty cash to deliver to the warehouse. The don will contact you with good or bad news on income. Taking your cut of the cash is how you gain income. The Enforcer gives you intel on what family they have encountered. From there on it is your job to get in contact with that family. This can be done by going to rival families territory and asking around. If successful you will contacted by ether the underboss and some occasion the families don to settle matters. This sometimes dose not go well for there are crocked families in the game protection as underboss is important. if successful the don will contact you on meeting with his financial advisor. This is where you get a chance to wash your dirty cash. As a underboss you can also hire contract killers. You can have family members killed and eventually start your rain as boss if a attempt to kill your boss is successful. The best way for this is to do it yourself.
Rank#5 Don/Boss: As the don or boss you can now build you have all contacts you can now be accompanied by the underboss, Enforcer and four soldiers. You can schedule sit downs and have to manage your empire. This is the biggest part of simulation in the game. But it has its perks. If your rise to boss was a messy one you can have multiple enemy's. You can be at the authorities number one take down as well as rival families. assassination attempts on the don can occur as soon as you walk out of your home best to keep yourself guarded.
