Game Idea Not Used Before In Strategy Games

There a lots of strategy games that are awesome and really interesting in the world but from all of the games that I have played there is not any that incorporates the idea of the player creating their own hero into the story of said game universe like example in starcraft 2 you can create a character that goes into the universe as a type of hero character that can interact with the other story characters and decide what type of equipment said character can use like Terran marine, ghost, Goliath, heck even a battle-cruiser unique character that is in the story that fight with the troops as well as the story characters.

for fantasy example will be like WoW but same idea with armor and weapons of said universe heck bet there will be interesting hype on modding with additonal armors or weapons that your custom character will interact with the storyline and when going multiplayer they can use their unique hero in the game as well like how warcharft III was like with hero characters.
