Reducing Number Of Fatality Caused By Fire In Air Crash.

Boeing Other Idea

Submitted 5 years ago

In a plane crash a large number of fatality is caused by fire, for an example in an unfortunate incident in march 12 / 2018, US Bangla flight 211 crashed on tribhuban International airport , Nepal which resulted in in loss of 52 innocent lives.

Post mortem report showed that majority of fatality was caused by fire which escalated very quickly after the crash. Despite of airport being well equipped with fire fighting system , fire could not be contained in time.

Number of fatality could have been reduced had the aircraft been equipped with self fire fighting system which automatically activated in case of impact or fire.

After doing a personal research on anatomy of an aircraft i became aware that an aircraft consist of two layers, inner and outer. In between these layers there are some wires, cables leaving some space empty. The overhead cabin (dedicated for hand carry) also contains some free space. All these hollow spaces can be filled cylinders containing compressed and highly concentrated form of fire extinguishing foam. Also to increase the effectiveness of this system some cylinders containing same kind of foam can be placed adjacent to oxygen cylinders. Furthermore, cabin space for luggage can be reduced to increase space for foam. Same kind of foam can also be placed on wings (below fuel container) and on floor of the plane where emergency light are situated near the passenger seat.

So in case of fire or an impact passenger will be sprayed by foam from all direction effectively suppressing fire in soonest possible time saving the passengers life.

This system could reduce number of fatalities in aircraft accident caused by fire.

Please find the attached file containing diagrammatic representation of the system.
