Louis Napolean Nelson Black Confederate Soldier

Bradford Exchange New Product Idea

Submitted 8 years ago

Louis Napolean Nelson, was a private in Co. M, 7th Tennessee Cavalry of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. Private Nelson began his military service as a cook, then a rifleman, and finally a chaplain.
Maybe we need to start teaching that there were Black confederate soldiers and they were also Hero's not just slaves. They fought as well because the war was not over slavery. Abraham lincoln stated in his inaugural address a little over 1 month before the war started "I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so."
