Delta Air Taxi: Point To Point Transport Using Electric Aircraft

Delta Airlines New Service Idea

Submitted 8 years ago

Many people want the ability to visit the beach and come back home to their own beds within one day without having to shell out $500. Currently, this type of travel is only available to those lucky enough to live near the beach, however with electric aircraft, this can be opened up for the many people that don't live within 20 minutes of the beach by car. Delta should use its in-house knowledge to make an air taxi service that would take people on trips between destinations that are not major cities but still take a long time to reach by car and don't have the volume to justify an airline service to. Examples of this are going to different neighborhoods inside large cities, for example going from Buckhead to Decatur in Atlanta, or from Santa Monica to San Bernadino in Califonia. Delta Airlines could use the new Pipstrel Electric Aircraft to offer this service, combined with the autopilot features and augmented reality devices used on drones like the DJI Phantom to help reduce operational costs by shortening the time for pre-flight checks and routine maintenance overhauls.
