Dear Gentleperson,
This letter requests that you or a representative from the Virginia Employment Commission offer a public service to the residents of the South End of Newport News by helping them re-enter the workforce as they present their skills and resumes to you on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 10am to 2pm at Achievable Dream Tennis Center, 1300 Ivy Avenue, Newport News.

We are seeking employer representatives to participate in the first job fair on Ivy Avenue dedicated to encourage, motivate and employ those that have been ignored by employers or prejudged because of their past mistakes. Your presence is a powerful component in strengthening poverty stricken areas in which the citizens are losing hope for a better future.

On behalf of me, a resident of the South End of Newport News, I graciously thank you in advance for helping me breathe life back into a dying community. On May 24, 2014, I hosted a community block party. There were at least 300 attendees. The Mayor, Assistant Chief of Newport News Police, and Councilwoman Tina Vick came to support us because they see the value of the South End. It was simply beautiful. Therefore, I'm asking you to entertain this invitation since there are ready, willing and able employees eagerly waiting to meet with you. I will follow up with your office to determine whether you are taking part in a great event. Once participation is confirmed, a packet containing further information will be sent to you.
