Inland Port Of Pennsylvania

General Motors New Service Idea

Submitted 7 years ago

I have acquired 3,000 acres on the interchange of I-81 and St Rt 54 in Mahanoy City PA to support the overloaded Port Authority of NY/NJ in cargo and autos. The concept is to move the goods by train from the ships to be processed 90 miles due west and relieve the congestion around the port area. From our location over 200 million people can be serviced within 1 days truck drive time. This location is 10 minutes south of I-81 and I-80 interchange. Auto warehousing, assembly, processing, customs clearing can be all done at this location. The positives are quicker delivery times, significantly cheaper costs of land, building, warehousing, and labor. GM commissioned a study 2 years ago pinpointing this concept on my land. Yesterdays Wall Street Journal had an article in logistics and supply chain emphasizing the need for this by the auto industry. This is a great concept!!! The Lehigh Valley has been well known as a key logistics center but it can't be serviced by rail. My location is superb!!! Please call me at 610-357-4294. Sincerely, Scott Plavner CEO Inland Port of Pennsylvania
