HBO should acquire rights to Sharpe and remake in keeping with the books. I think only hbo could do it justice. The original series is aged and it would be epic.
If it's to be done in needs to be done big budget, dark and gritty and as close to the books as possible, I love the old series it was my child hood but when you read the books you realise the true scope of horror and awe that these battles actually displayed. I reckon instead of breaking it up into a movie per book, combine all the books into one big story, from India to Waterloo and break that down into like 9 series.
The characters depth and their arcs are amazing throughout the story. It's got to link as close to the factual history as possible I think, yeah we're re telling the sharpe series but with more detail, but just as Bernard Cornwell is doing, he's using this story to actually teach history.
Yes yes yes! I've been reading the books again recently and have been thinking it needs a reboot! Done closer to the books. Dont get me wrong the original will always be close to my heart, its amazing but there was much done wrong. I think it must be remade. And HBO are excellent with their shows. Would be Legendary!
