Anti-Sleep Device For Car Driver Application

Drowsiness while driving has always been the topic been discussed widely around the world. However, appropriate measures are still not yet to be taken. The purpose of this study is to develop anti-sleep device for car driver application in order to put a full stop upon rising of accident upon drowsiness. Existing anti-sleep device, such as Low Cost EEG device, Optalert and many more has been considered. Existing anti-sleep device has been an additional feature to be bought and used. Other sleep detection in cars can be seen in Ford Driver Alert, Mercedes Driving Assistant and many more. This study however to develop an anti-sleep device in such a way functions from the dashboard and detects drowsiness of car driver. The purpose of this study is to develop a functional prototype of anti-sleep device which detects eye region of the car driver and displays the output of the eye behaviour. The prototype been developed is from MATLAB software and a High Definition (HD) webcam. The usage of HD webcam is to ensure the clarity of image been captured and to be analysed by MATLAB software. The functional prototype is somehow developed whereby the eye region of driver is cropped and analysed as well, displays output in MATLAB software.
