A Properly Fast V6 Hybrid CR-Z

Honda's first Accord hybrids were based on a 3.0L V6. It wasn't popular because it didn't get great gas mileage compared to other hybrid sedans, but it did offer 250 hp.

Now, take the CR-Z, which was supposed to be a sports hybrid. It also wasn't popular, because it wasn't really any faster than the cheaper, much more useful Fit.

The question is this: Why not fit a new CR-Z with an aluminum-block V6 hybrid? It'd certainly have to be a little bigger, but the power boost would make it more of a proper sports car. It would certainly cost more to make, but if it stays under $35,000 people will still be very interested in a more efficient alternative to the likes of the Focus RS. Since you're making it bigger anyway, you might even be able to make the rear seats safe enough to sell in the US.

The CR-Z isn't much of a success right now because it's gas mileage is barely better than the fit. I looked into this and discovered the fit is using the new direct injected engines, while the CR-Z is stuck with port injection.

Otherwise, I like the idea. This would be a good chance to bring back the J25, or the J30 with direct injection. China gets the J30 right now, and its making 263 horsepower, which is plenty, and yet honda hasn't brought the J30 back to america yet.
