Ok so I have been thinking about how rideshare with Lyft can get better, and unfortunately I don't see any other way than to increase the price somehow. The only problem is there is a large group of passengers who will use the services less.
My idea is to increase the price a tiny amount, maybe by $1-$2; it is still better than calling a taxi. The second part would be to offer subscription plans to passengers, sort of like Amazon Prime. They could pay a monthly fee and maybe earn a free ride every few rides. Even raising the price by $3-5 would still make it better than a taxi. Passengers could recieve small discounts every few rides. I turn 28 next month and I remember getting off of school, doing schoolwork, and then riding my bike for 30 minutes to my job at the mall and riding it home for 40 minutes(because I was tired) and there was no uber back then. I wouldn't have used rideshare everyday if it was around back then, but i guarantee you i would have happily paid $20 for a 3 minute car ride some of those days.
I only have so much sympathy.
