I recently purchased the Susan b Anthony Barbie . I started thinking about the importance of women and how they shaped history . In my mind there was no one more important than my female heroine Sacajawea . Without her there would have been no Lewis and Clark expedition as she guided and saved them on numerous occasions during their travels in fact even saving their lives , all while carrying a papoose upon her back !This is a woman of honor and strength and needs to be recognized as such by recreating her image complete with her authentic Indian wardrobe and papoose detailed for accuracy acknowledging her strength and wisdom and possibly including her beloved Appaloosa horse, with adornment authentic to her tribe, as this beautiful soul was said to have carried to her grave by this horse , so integral to the American. native people . Her only wish after the successful journeys to the Pacific Ocean was to see the big water and big fish wich actually was a beached whale as no one had ever seen this before from her tribe , and also how this opened up more trade with the nez perce Indians of this area
which had access to goods brought from across the ocean which were traded among tribes . She never received a Medal of Honor or any recognition for success as a guide who helped Lewis and Clark on their great expedition west. How unfortunate but what an opportunity to honor her now as we examine the women of strength and power that helped shape the world .
