No Man's Sky Has Been Likened To A Less Successful Minecraft?

So recently i thought about the idea of how NMS connects thousands of worlds together and I couldn't help think "which massive multiplayer game has thousands of randomly generated worlds in it".
Has anyone in the official company thought about developing an in game world explorer item or block that allows you to jump between world shared by other players? I mean if ever a game was to do it well it was minecraft...?
