Harder Difficulty For Pokémon

Wouldn`t it be nice if there was a option for harder difficulty in the main Pokémon games.

I reacently I played Pokémon Shining Perl. Wehen I reached about midgame my Pokémon were constantly overpowered. I was not even grinding that much. There is no real challenge in completing the story.
