you could also try using the virtual console on the Wii U instead of a whole new game. Making it easier.

There have been plenty of comebacks from older games, such as wind waker, ocarina of time, and majoras mask. I used to be able to play MARIO sunshine and it was my favorite game. I know that with a few minor gameplay changes to fit the switch, it would become a big hit.
