Driver's Door Opening Warning

When drivers open their doors it can be quite dangerous. Sometimes a passing car, which received no warning, will hit the door or even worse the person getting out.
I have two solutions: the more complicated solution involves a light blinking for 3 seconds and a mechanism that delays the opening of the door during that duration. The simplest solution is that the left (European version) indicator of the car will blink for 3 seconds as the door starts to open. The flashing of the indicator of a stationary car will give warning to approaching drivers.
