Ride Sharing For The Soccer Mom's (or Dads)
Uber New Service IdeaSubmitted 7 years ago
I've recently come up with a great idea that I think could be very beneficial to Uber establishing itself into communities around the nation. With recent reports of cuts to the education department there's a risk of losing many great features such as after school sports and buses. These programs are crucial for allowing household where both parents work, an extended amount of time to pick their child up while keeping them active and happy.
My idea is to use the ride sharing concept to change the way kids are able to get a ride to practice, a game, rehearsal or whatever it may be in their respected community. Parents can go through a pre-screening, just like any driver, to sign up. The same sort of features could be established such as drivers being open to take customers where they want to go and customers can request a ride to a destination. Instead of compensating drivers normally, this form of Uber could pay drivers (primarily parents/family/friends/coaches) in credits. Credits that can be then used at a later time to take their kid to/from practice when needed.
The idea is far from polished but I think it could meet an increasing need in communities, as well as help Uber connect with families and their customers more. Maybe even fuel the process of out-competing local taxi companies. As someone who was constantly involved in sports, I know this is something that my single mother would've appreciated when I was growing up.
