In 1947 a piece of precursor technology crashes in roswell leading to the assassins retrieving it for the government to start the space race. The templar order, strong in russia starts using spys in america to get to the technology, eventually leading to the assassination of JFK with the templars gaining access to precursor technology on the moon.This in turn allows the modern day assassins to find the templar order's Main HQ where they make their plans and try to access precursor memories through an upgraded animus.
