The beloved MK1Golf lived on in South Africa until 2009, as it filled many rolls and needs in that country. The love of this original design is still beating today! Obviously the model would have to be brought up to modem day standards, but is it possible to do with the MK1 golf with BMW did with the mini? And return those lines into a retro seller? Obviously the the Golf line is many generations past almost 8 as I write this.....But wouldn't this be a great way to honor a car that has spanned so many generations and put so many smiles on people's faces? I have owned 23 Volkswagens since 1986, I currently own a 2019 Jetta and a 2009 Rabbit amd come from a big VW family. VW did make a go of it with the beetle so I know it has been more than a thought. Maybe the same idea with he golf is a possibility?
