Simple Product Improvement

Volkswagen Product Improvement Idea

Submitted 1 year ago

The emergency brake on the 2021 Atlas has an issue that should be corrected in all of your products. Yesterday, I left my home to go to work. I attempted to push the button down, and it wouldn't budge. After contacting VW roadside assistance, I started reading on forums about similar issues. I kept seeing posts about getting a coin stuck under the lever. My lever wouldn't physically move, although it was an electronic switch. I checked, and sure enough, there was a dime wedged deeply under the base of lever. The bottom of the plastic lever was designed as though it would stop a foreign object if it was pushed down. If you pull the lever up, this is where the foreign debris can enter. On top of that, the pocket that the lever resides is shaped like a ramp into the gap. The dime was hidden by the top of the lever, and when I used the e-brake on a hill, it slid right into the gap. By the way, great e-brake. That thing wouldn't let the vehicle move an inch.
