Ergonomic Headrests

GMC Other Idea

Submitted 4 years ago

Over the last decade and a half all car/truck manufacturers have switched over to a headrest design that forces the occupant's head too far forward. That's probably fine for someone who spends their life hunched over a computer or smart phone, but to those of us who stand and sit erectly it is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I cannot sit in a newer vehicle for more than a couple of minutes before my neck and back begin to ache. The only way to sit comfortably with those headrests is to be almost fully reclined... or to put 2" of padding in front of the backrest to align it with the headrest.

There was nothing wrong with the old style of headrest that allowed a person to sit upright, with a good posture, and comfortably operate a vehicle without being forced to face his knees and strain to look out the windshield.

Please design an upright headrest option so we can pull the miserable one out and insert a comfortable one! There are many of us who WILL NOT buy a new car/truck because of the headrests! And my truck is almost to 400,000 miles. I'd like to get a new one, but NOT with a miserably uncomfortable headrest!
