Utility Knife Organizer With Built-in Blade Snapper.

Harbor Freight Tools New Product Idea

Submitted 7 years ago

Hello, My name is Mary Kay Hansen.

Using segmented utility knives are very convenient but can also be very dangerous when trying to snap the little blade segments off. These knives are being used by millions of companies and contractors daily. The problem with these knives is that when you use pliers or the end cap of a knife to break off blade segments there is no safe way to dispose of the little sharp broken blade pieces unless you have a separate blade disposal container somewhere.

Many contractors just let the blade pieces fall to the floor to later be swept up and/or throw them loosely into a garbage bag. Some contractors lean the knife/blade against a wall or hard surface and the blade segments go flinging across the room.

Another problem is keeping track of the knife and spare blades.

In order to solve this problem, I designed a knife and blade organizer with a built-in blade snapper. It is called the BladeEater. New blades are in a separate compartment and are easy to obtain. Snapped off blade segments fall down into another compartment. When the blade well is full, the sharp blade segments can then be safely disposed of.

The knife is conveniently stored down in the holster and has a knife-clip mount located on the back of the holster to secure it if the contractor is moving around a lot. Only one hand is needed to snap a blade segment off.

The BladeEater not only saves time but is so much safer and is being used by thousands of satisfied customers. We are getting a new mold made which will be able to fit bigger 9 mm snap knives. Since you already carry snap knives, we think it would be a good idea to just sell this knife blade organizer with the built-in blade snapper by itself and let contractors use their favorite knife and blades. So, this new product will not necessarily have to be blister carded with a knife and blades. This way we can offer them in a box, bucket or clip strip and sell them at a very low cost to you.

However, we currently have a few thousand packaged BladeEaters with knife and blades which we would certainly love to use to try out the market at Harbor Freight if you would rather go that route first. We will also consider selling these to you below wholesale just to get them into Harbor Freight.

Please let us know if you would be interested in the BladeEater holster. You can view a demon of the BladeEater at http://www.snap-knife.com/component/content/article.html?id=53
