Lyft "Charity" Lane

Lyft Service Improvement Idea

Submitted 6 years ago

I just heard from a friend who is disabled. He intended to go to the doctor but his ride flaked out.

Well, someone with money would simply call Lyft or Uber. But not everyone has money to burn, even for a ride.

Which gave me the idea: What if there was a channel for riders who couldn't/wouldn't normally pay? Disabled people. Elderly people. You get the picture.

Allow drivers to register for a charity drive. Set up a system to register people who needed the ride (don't want wealthy people getting rides for free, so you'd need a triage/approval system). Have a "donate" button allowing other riders to contribute to the fund.

While this would not directly contribute to Lyft's bottom line, it would give you a 'social awareness' bragging point. And it would also give a helping hand to people who can't help themselves.
