Lyft Driver Visibility For Fellow Lyft Drivers In The App

Lyft Service Improvement Idea

Submitted 6 years ago

Why is it that drivers have to go offline to see where other drivers are? In order to plan for better coverage, which helps everyone out, a driver has to go offline. This is a potential reduction in business for both the driver and the company. With drivers choosing to drift towards areas without driver saturation, every driver will get more work, the customers will get used to lower fares from having closer options, and the company can claim this was their idea in the first place.

The job of providing rides to people is great in many ways, but the downtime is maybe the worst part of the job. This downtime is directly increased in two ways by not being able to see where other drivers are without going offline; most of us sit as a few of the drivers serve the relatively sparse customer base or we all repeatedly and annoyingly go offline in order to get valuable info.

Can we just have a way to swap to a screen in the driver app, a screen that shows the fellow drivers in the same way the customer Lyft app does, to see whether we should hang out after a stop or drift towards a low coverage area? Please!
