With the increase of technology, we see more and more people online. More and more people are watching tv on the go with app's like Netflix, Hulu, HBO go etc. We also see more and more people getting rid of their cable packages and simply keeping their internet packages and for that reason i think a lot of these cable companies should think about creating "internet packages" the same way they have "cable packages" when you get "basic cable" it comes included with so many channels and then you can change your package based on the channels that you want to add. I think they should use that formula for "internet packages" you get your high speed internet and it's included with so many channels for those that don't want cable tv but still want to watch their favorite tv shows online. Many channel apps such as SyFi, A&E, CBS, FOX,Starz,Showtime,FX etc ask you for your cable provider and to log in to your account before they give you access. Why not keep up with the times and offer internet packages with the same standard channel packages to keep viewership numbers up (especially during award season) and to keep retention of your customers and make new customers in the process. There is a high increase of people with Firesticks and clearly Hulu and Netflix are vastly successful. The technology era is on us all and i think these cable providers should keep up.
